Hello, my friends!
I’m so excited to share today’s DIY because the holiday season is in full swing here! The Christmas music is on repeat—my favorites this year are Norah Jones’ I Dream of Christmas and Lauren Daigle’s Behold.

I recently decorated this DIY Fresh Flower Christmas Tree for a progressive dinner with my neighbors. For the past few years, we’ve had this wonderful holiday tradition where we draw names and divide an evening into courses—cocktails, appetizers, a main course, and dessert. We hop from house to house for each course, catching up before the holiday rush and admiring everyone’s decorations.
This year, I was in charge of the coffee and dessert course, which can sometimes be the most “boring” stop on the hop. I wanted to find a way to end the evening on a special note. So, I created this Fresh Flower Christmas Tree, and I can’t wait to show you how easy it was!
Since I was hosting my neighbors, I decided to try something very different for my Christmas tree this year. Fresh-cut flowers always feel special, so adding them to my holiday decor seemed like a perfect idea. My first thought was to use water tubes like the ones from a florist, but then I had a better idea.
I had these lightbulb-shaped vases left over from a bridal shower, and they were the perfect size! I filled them with mini roses, thistle, and fresh greens. These acted as beautiful, unique ornaments that tied my love for fresh flowers into a special party favor. My guests could take them home at the end of the evening, and it was a huge hit!
Putting this tree together was relatively easy! I used three different sizes of glass vases that I had leftover from a bridal shower I hosted for my daughter-in-law (similar here).
While the glass vases work just fine, I recently found a great plastic version of the vases with gold or silver lids. These would be an even better option since you wouldn’t have to worry about them breaking.
I wrapped some twine around the tops of the vases and glued it in place, making sure to leave a loop for hanging.
Next up, the fun part of making mini arrangements with roses, mini carnations, thistle, and greenery. So pretty!
Then, I added some name tags I had on hand from gift wrapping, and for a final touch, I used gold ornament hooks from Amazon to hang the “floral ornaments” on the tree.
Finally, I added some pretty woven ribbon to fill in the tree a bit.
This is how the tree topper turned out. I used the largest size vase for this.
At night, the lights on the tree bounced around the water-filled vases (my photos here don’t do it justice) and made quite the festive scene.
While I loved using mini roses, carnations, and thistle (some of my Christmas Favorites), the great thing about this project is that you can truly make it your own! Here are a few other flowers that would be perfect for a Fresh Flower Christmas Tree
To keep my Fresh Flower Christmas Tree looking good for as long as possible—it lasted over a week!—I treated each small vase as its own individual arrangement. I checked the water level in each vase daily and topped it off as needed. You can use a small watering can or even a medicine dropper to add water. Keeping the water fresh will ensure the flowers stay vibrant and pretty.

Oh yeah, I did end up serving Champagne and Chai Tea White Russians along with the coffee because I can’t leave well enough alone. 😉
Until next time,
