Hello Everyone!
Thanks for popping in for an update on our Home Office project. We are at the One Room Challenge midway point, and this is usually the week I break down and cry over something. While this week, I am feeling low-grade anxiety creeping in, no full-on tears as of yet.
This week we checked off the DIY desk. We worked on an L-shaped desk for the space. My Son-in-Law had his heart set on a butcher block desktop. He loved the countertops we put in our kitchen during the spring One Room Challenge, so I wanted to incorporate them in the space for him. We designed the desk, so it is big enough to offer room for his dual computer monitors and still have room to stretch out a bit while he works. The butcher block is sanded, stained, and sealed (and looks so nice). Just waiting for the legs to arrive. We originally thought about hairpin legs which all of us love, but they didn’t seem like they would be sturdy enough to support the butcher block. We found square heavier metal legs on Etsy, and they think they will lend a modern industrial feel to the desk.
All the design choices have been ordered wallpaper, blinds, furniture, art, and such. I am so excited about the prints my daughter and SIL choose. In fact, I liked them so much I may order one or two for my own home.
Since we are waiting for delivery for the wallpaper (which I cannot wait to share), that is all I have to show this week. This is what we still have left:
PAINT/ WALLPAPER
DIY SIDE TABLE
LIGHTING/ WINDOW TREATMENTS
GALLERY WALL/ STORAGE
READING NOOK
*GASP* Hate seeing that list in print.
Go check out the Featured Designers to see how far they have progressed as well as my fellow Guest Participants.
Until next time,
Libbie
Love all the materials! We are using the same pillow in our challenge and that light fixture is to die for!
LIbby this is going to be a beautiful desk! I just love those iron legs.
Libbie – it sounds like you had a very productive week! We can’t wait to see the butcher block desk with those amazing legs. We’re feeling the time-crunch as well. Cheers to a great week ahead!
It’s going to be awesome! I can’t wait to see the wallpaper you chose.
I did a butcher block desk this week in my office, too! I’m anxious to see how this turns out! 🙂
This is really genius work. I can’t wait to see the wallpaper you selected.
Oh Libbie, this is such a good DIY for a desk. LOVE those legs and the warm wood in the butcher block. My office is on deck for Spring 2020 ORC, so you know I’m taking notes here. Thanks so much for sharing.
I can’t wait to see what wallpaper you chose!
