We are in the home stretch here for the One Room Challenge. Week 6! This is typically reveal week for the ORC but due to the extreme weather at the very beginning of the challenge an extension was given by the organizers allowing bloggers and designers to finish their projects. So one more week to go! Come back next week to see how the Laundry/Mudroom turned out. If you need to catch up here you go:
Week 1/ Week 2/ Week 3/ Week 4/ Week 5
Today, I am sharing my absolute and complete devotion to the color Navy. Navy is the color I chose to paint the cabinets in my One Room Challenge project and I thought I’d share my journey on how I settled on the particular Navy color I chose.
I hopped on the Navy bandwagon with this furniture project when we first bought the lake house. This dresser is in our Master Bedroom.
I love how the color looks against the wood drawers. Plus it shows of that antique brass hardware like it’s jewelry.
My love affair with Navy continued after a trip to London last summer where I couldn’t get enough of the colorful doors you find everywhere ( I literally snapped over 1,000 pics of doors alone). The beautiful blues resonated with me the most.
One of my first projects I took on this summer after returning home from Europe was the front door at the lake. In the end I actually wanted something to pop a bit more against the siding so I ended up with more of an Indigo Blue. (I probably should have put away the laundry before taking pics). :-
After living with these beautiful blues all summer I knew I wasn’t done. I still wanted to paint the Laundry room/Mudroom Cabinets blue so I researched (obsessively) the most popular Navy’s and ended up with….Drumroll please
Naval SW6244. It is truly perfection as far as Navy’s go. It warmed the space up considerably. I think this is enough blue for me now, but if I change my mind I still have a few more to cross of my list.
A great big THANK YOU to Linda at Calling it home. As well as House Beautiful the Media Sponsor of the One Room Challenge. Check out the Designers/Bloggers here and the Guest Bloggers here. Make sure to check back next week for the big reveal!
Until next time,
Libbie xx
Navy is such a classic color! Looking forward to seeing the finished space next week 🙂
Best,
Kelly
Thank you for sharing with us all the beautiful blues. I have a thing for indigo right now. Cabinets turned out lovely.
I love the paint color you chose. I’m also digging that rope wall. I can’t wait to see the finished space!
I love the color! The exterior of our house is Hale Navy. 🙂 I have used that color in a few other places around the house too.
I am looking forward to your big reveal!
Naaavy. Oh, I love it too. You’re so spot on about hardware seeming like jewelry for furniture! After seeing all your photos of brass on navy, I feel suddenly compelled to take a paintbrush to my shoe cabinet… But I think I’ll wait until ORC is over. 😉
Can’t wait to see your finished space!
I love navy! Thanks for the paint color ideas too!
I’m currently loving navy as well. It’s such a great color for furniture. Love the color on your dresser!
I love this color!! I am having a love affair with all the things blue right now so I have all the heart eyes for that piece of furniture and those amazing doors!!! I can’t wait to see your reveal!!
I LOVE navy everything. I have the same love affair. Thanks for all the paint ideas 🙂
Great blues! I love the dresser in the first two pics the most!
I’m a super fan of Navy. Thanks for the paint ideas too. Waiting for your post which is more about the blue color as well.
