Cozy Fall Bedroom Decor Ideas for a Quick Refresh

Hello! I am over here enjoying our very warm Fall here in Michigan. Even though it has been warmer than usual, I am still in Fall cleaning mode. For some people, Spring cleaning is their thing, but I am always inspired to clean and refresh in the Fall. Maybe it’s in anticipation of the holidays? This season, while deep cleaning our guest room, I decided to update the space as well. Let’s take a look at some cozy Fall bedroom decor ideas for a quick refresh!

Bedding: Layering for a Cozy Feel:

The foundation of any cozy bedroom is its bedding! For this guest room refresh, I chose a color palette that’s a trending favorite this fall season. It’s a timeless combo of blues and rich browns. This combination offers warm tones that feel sophisticated and work perfectly with the room’s existing wallpaper. The wallpaper is from Anewall. The colors also work well with the DIY wood block headboard I made a few years ago. You can see it here.

I started with a basic white quilt as the bedding base—it’s the perfect place to build layers. Next, I added a cozy, deep-blue duvet for warmth. The best part is the final layer: a faux fur coverlet in a luxe brown shade, instantly adding a cozy feel and soft textures. For pillows, I used Euro shams in a brown shade and added beautiful cream-colored textured pillows. These simple swaps are an easy way to achieve a cozy fall feel with minimal effort!

Vintage Charm: Adding Small Touches for Cozy Fall Vibes:

Incorporating vintage pieces is one of my favorite seasonal decorating tricks—it gives every space a personal touch. For this cozy fall bedroom, I brought back my stack of vintage suitcases to use as a nightstand. I think these suitcases have been used in at least four different places in my home over the years! With the warmer tones I was introducing through the bedding, it felt like the perfect time to bring them out again.

This setup is an example of those small touches that make a big impact. I styled the suitcases with a warm gold lamp and a gold picture frame. The metals brought in an extra layer of warm colors and cozy vibes. I also filled a black ceramic vase with faux stems (these are dried berries), which provides a much-needed pop of color to the corner. This is an easy way to introduce seasonal elements without major changes!

The Best Part: Unexpected Finds & Cozy Textures

Large Leaning Mirror in Fall Bedroom.

Sometimes, the best part of a refresh is using what you already have! The one thing we added to the space that surprised me was an oversized wood-framed leaning mirror that had been banished to our storage garage for three years! I had my husband drag it in, and it instantly bounced so much light around the room—it was love at first light! (See what I did there?) This is one of those simple ideas that provides a great way to make a small change feel like a major change.

To amp up the soft fabrics and textures, I swapped out the old rocking chair for a pretty vintage woven-wicker chair. I added a basket nearby and tossed a chunky knit throw into it, along with a plush boucle pillow on the chair—these are perfect for the cooler months. Combining these different textures feels absolutely right for the cozy fall vibes I was going for.

I kept the DIY Wall planter I made. The plants love it here, and I love adding plants in a bedroom-or any space in your home. Adding plants to your home even has health benefits. Faux plants work great, too!

The Finishing Touches: Scent and Subtle Changes

The final steps involve engaging the senses, making them among the easiest subtle changes to complete your cozy retreat. Layering rugs in the Fall is such a treat! I added a faux sheepskin rug at the foot of the bed—I don’t have a great picture, but it feels so decadent and instantly adds those soft textures underfoot!

On the walls, I opted for some moodier wall art to bring in those deep, rich colors of the autumn season. Swapping out prints is a simple and easy way to refresh a space seasonally—I like using the same frame and just switching out the print (my husband appreciates fewer nail holes in the wall, as I am more of a “this looks good” person rather than one to grab a tape measure!).

Of course, you can’t have a true cozy fall feel without a fall scent! I’ve added my favorite fall-scented candle and a pretty holder for matches on the nightstand.

Candles are one of my love languages, and Fall is the perfect time to discover some new ones. Here are some of my favorite fall candles from this season:

Wrapping Up My Cozy Fall Refresh

The best thing about these fall bedroom decor ideas is that they don’t require major changes or a huge bud et. By simply focusing on simple swaps like layering bedding, adding a chunky knit blanket, and playing with natural elements and scent, you can transform a room into a cozy retreat with very little eff rt. I hope this inspired you to start your own fall cleaning and refresh!

Until next time,

-Libbie
