Organic Spring Tablescape: DIY Mini Flower Arrangements in Candlesticks

There is something about the first 50-degree day in Michigan that makes me want to strip away the dregs of winter and bring the outdoors in. For my first Spring tablescape, I wanted my table to feel less formal/stuffy and more like a breath of fresh air. By layering woven textures, moss, and delicate fresh flowers, I’ve created a look that feels fresh and organic.

Setting the Table: Layering Natural Textures

I’m focusing on elevating the everyday this season, which means making things pretty and intentional but not fussy. I started with woven placemats to give the table an organic foundation; that rustic texture is perfect for grounding the delicate mini floral arrangements. I pulled out my favorite scalloped plates—a find from years ago that never goes out of style—and tucked the silverware into Home Goods paper napkins tied with a bit of leafy ribbon. It’s proof that you don’t need a formal setup to create a beautiful atmosphere.

  • Scalloped Plates: The “beaded” edges add a vintage touch.
  • Silverware: I have this set in several rentals, too. Love the gold and the shape.

  • Pretty Floral Glasses: These tie the garden theme together.

The Secret to the Table: Tiny Candlestick Florals

While a large centerpiece is lovely, there is something special about giving each guest their own flowers to take home. By repurposing green candlestick holders as tiny vases, it also gave some height to the tablescape without blocking the table.

How to DIY Mini Flower Arrangements in Candlestick Holders

I have been obsessed with tiny floral arrangements lately. These were simple to make and used some of the daisies andbaby’ss breath from the giant bouquet my husband bought me for our Anniversary.

Supplies for the Mini Arrangements:

  • Candlesticks: Any kind will do. Mismatched heights add visual interest.
  • Wet Floral Foam: Cut to fit the candle cup.
  • Waterproof Floral Tape: To secure the foam if needed.
  • Florals: Mini daisies, baby’s breath, and sprigs of greenery.
  • Sharp Scissors: Cut your stems at a slant.

Step-by-Step Arranging:

  • Prep Your Candlesticks: Fill each candlestick holder with wet floral foam. If yours has a shallow cup, you may need to check the water levels daily.
  • Start with Greenery: Start with your greenery first. Trim a small sprig so that it sits low and spills slightly over the rim of the holder. This creates a “nest” for your flowers, and the drape will cover the mechanics.
  • Add the Focal Flower: I added the daisies after cutting them at a sharp angle. You want the bloom to sit snugly just above the greenery.
  • The “Organic” Look: Don’t worry about making them identical! I was going for a light and airy look so each arrangement is a bit different.
