Hey there, friends! Today, I’m excited to share a budget bathroom makeover we recently completed for a client. After updating the rest of their home, the client had a limited budget, so we had to get creative to give this outdated bathroom a fresh, elevated look for less than $500.00!
Budget Bathroom Makeover
We knew we could make a huge difference with small changes, and that’s exactly what we did. By focusing on a few key areas, we transformed this bathroom without breaking the bank. We knew we would keep the flooring for now to stay within budget.

This is the mood board I put together for the client.
Wood Wall Treatment
Adding a wood wall treatment is a great way to add visual interest to a small space. We chose a classic board and batten design, which we installed ourselves to save money. Painting it a soft white (SW Alabaster) kept it light and airy. We used the HGTV Sherwin Williams line from Lowes. It covered the walls and wood beautifully!
We chose a very simple pattern for the accent wall to save time and money on materials without sacrificing the statement the wood wall treatment makes.
Fresh Coat of Paint
A fresh coat of paint can do wonders for any room. We opted for a bold, dark blue (SW Naval) for the remaining walls, which perfectly complemented the wood treatment. This classic color combo of Navy and White is a great choice for a home located in a beach community.
Mirror Makeover
We added a gold frame with a ready-made mirror frame kit to elevate the builder-grade mirror for a touch of glam. This simple DIY project made a big difference in the bathroom’s overall look.

Existing Bathroom Vanity
Sometimes, the best way to update a space is to embrace what’s already there. Our original plan was to paint the vanity a warm, mossy green. But as we finished with the navy wall, I realized I loved the warm wood tones of the existing vanity, so we kept it natural and changed the color of the faucet to a vintage gold -using a favorite product called rub and buff to give it a fresh look. Navy and gold look so good together!
Adding Decor and Accessories
The finishing touches, like a new rug, towel hooks, and green glass accessories, added pops of color and personality to the space. We kept the cost down by shopping at affordable stores and using items we already had.

By focusing on a few key areas and making smart choices, we were able to make a big impact on this small bathroom for under $500. Remember, even with a small budget, you can create a beautiful and functional space.
