For me, summer is all about dining al fresco. I just adore the ease and casual vibe of eating outside. I like outdoor dining to feel special and slightly elevated but also simple and and not fussy. Today, I’m sharing a chic and easy red, white, and blue tablescape for summer that doesn’t scream Americana. It turned out so pretty—I think you’ll agree! Let’s take a peek.
Summer is all about simplicity, and when I’m dining outside, I like to grab easy-to-use items that aren’t too precious for the deck or beach. That often means melamine dishes and pretty paper napkins when possible! For this red, white and blue tablescape, I used a set of melamine dishes I found at Home Goods and paired them with some pretty paper napkins from Amazon. To add a little texture, I used simple rattan napkin rings and then elevated the look with some pretty glassware from Anthropologie. A woven table runner and some navy blue placemats pulled the whole look together beautifully. I love that this would look great for Memorial Day or even the 4th of July without feeling overly Americana.

You know I love a good DIY, and for this tablescape, I created a fun watermelon vase centerpiece! It was surprisingly simple to make and added such a fresh, summery touch to the table. Plus, Daisies are just so pretty!
No summer gathering is complete without some refreshing drinks! For this red, white, and blue theme, I’ve got some delicious suggestions that perfectly fit the vibe:
Tips: Add some fresh strawberries or blueberries to ice-cold glasses of lemonade.
I set up a drink station to the side of my table with a tray and some red flowers. On the table, I filled a blue plant pot with ice to hold the Prosecco and a smaller one for the silverware. Using unexpected items like these planters can add a touch of whimsy to your tablescape.
To keep the subtle red, white, and blue theme, I opted for some of my family’s favorites. I added cookies, a shortcake dessert, and some fruit.
Here are a few other ideas that are a little fancier:
