Ah, Fall weddings! ‘Tis the season of love, berry-hued blooms, and plenty of gorgeous foliage. Both of my daughters have gotten married in the last year. Whew! I’m starting to feel like a pro over here. It has certainly been a year filled with celebrating love. Bridal showers, Boozy brunches, and Spa days have reigned. It’s been busy, but I have loved every minute of it. I learned so much from helping plan the events (especially the decor) I thought I’d share some of the ideas we found and tips that we learned along the way. The first wedding was a September affair and since I have already written about her Garden Themed Bridal Shower, let’s talk about my favorite tips and 7 ideas for a Fall Wedding.
First and foremost, take advantage of the gorgeous fall blooms! Plentiful in the autumn months, these colors – from berry tones to Burgundy and oranges – will bring your nuptials to life. You have chosen a gorgeous time of year to get married. Let your flowers show it off. Buying in season florals may save you some money too! The Bridal bouquet below is filled with Protea, Lisianthus, roses, thistle, berries and myrtle.
The Floral arch bursts with Fall Color and textures.
Mixing faux florals along with your fresh flowers can be beautiful.
Don’t discount all the beautiful decor you can create with existing items from your home; we found a screen (perviously used as a headboard in the guest room!) to serve as table seating tags. Shop your house. We used a set of more boho feeling screens to separate the Wedding ceremony from the cocktail hour. Vintage brass candle holders that I already owned were the perfect Fall touch. Shop Goodwill (put your bridesmaids and family members on the hunt with you) to round out the perfect amount of any given item. Vintage furniture can be used to set up a pretty Fall vignette. Look around your family’s homes, and you may find the perfect pieces.
My daughter chose this pretty floral pattern and added it to several wedding items, allowing the berry colors to pull the other elements together.
My SIL is a talented artist and was able to draw their likeness for their wedding programs.
A personalized bridal party sign is a great way to add some fun! Etsy can be a great source when looking for personalized items.
and how CUTE are these little wedding cake toppers!
Fall is filled with gorgeous saturated colors, so why not let your Fall Wedding reflect what is going on outside. And don’t forget to add a hint of sparkle in the form of metallic hues, gold and silvers (don’t be afraid to mix your metals) are beautiful with Fall colors. Metallics can just be added through linens, flowers, decor.
These gold chargers shine with the Burgundy napkins.
Oh, and don’t forget about the bar! Guests will spend plenty of time in line – so decorate it up with signs, flower arrangements, and (of course!) plenty of photos of the happy couple. Just make it pretty.
We “borrowed” the bridesmaids’ bouquets to add a pop of fall color behind the bar. They were, of course, given back at the end of the evening. 😉
Greenery for wedding decor is perfect year-round but is especially beautiful this time of year. It highlights all that gorgeous fall color and brings a touch of nature to your decor. Eucalyptus garlands are especially beautiful in autumn, and will bring a unique touch to your wedding decor. The greenery below makes the tablescape.
We also ran greenery along the aisle.
Let your wedding favor choices reflect the season. Cider donuts, pumpkin scented candles, maple syrup, the list is endless. Let the weather guide you. Below my daughter and her husband chose a “his and her” favor of Vanilla flavored coffee and hot cocoa.
The sign reads, “Thanks for BEAN here, and Love is Sweet.”
Weddings this time of year are a special delight – just remember to enjoy the process!
Oh wait, maybe a few more photos.

What a beautiful wedding! The fall colors are gorgeous! I absolutely love the greenery and the antique tall votive holders on the long tables. Can you tell me where you found those? My daughter is getting married next Sept and I plan to share many of your ideas with her. All so pretty! I bet you can’t stop looking at the pictures!
Susan,
Congratulations on you your daughters upcoming wedding. It is such a time of celebration. Both of my daughters got married in within a 9 month period and it was such a LOVE filled year!
The candle holders were brass candlesicks we hunted down at local Goodwill stores(cheap). We then glued mini glass votives from Micheals onto them. It satisifed the venue’s no open flame rule. They were beautiful.
Enjoy the planning process!
