Styling shelves for Fall

Hello! I am popping in today to show you how I am styling the shelves in my kitchen nook for Fall. If you follow along here, you know that I am craving a less is more feel in my home this year and find myself wanting a more streamlined design for my home: more space, less clutter. So when I started styling shelves for Fall this season, I was surprised where I landed.

Before I share, though, today I have a treat for you! I am participating in the Blogger’s Best Fall Home tour 2022. My friend Kelly from The Tattered Pew hosts this yearly event, and a big thank you to her! If you are visiting from my friend Wendy’s blog WM Design House a warm welcome!

Let’s get started!

Styling Fall Shelves- Last year

Since I don’t have a mantle, this is the place where I usually decorate for the seasons.

I have kept it simple in the past and lean towards a neutral feel.

This was one of my favorites.

The past year, I was looking for a little more depth to the shelves, so I painted the back a darker grey (Cityscape by SW). I LOVE THEM!

Adding new art

I have also been eliminating typography art in my home piece by piece. So for Fall, that is where I decided to start. I picked out some fresh art prints from Society6 and bought frames for them at Micheal’s. I love shopping for prints because you can personalize your art to what you love.

Here is what I ended up with – sorry about the glare!

I chose this peach print because we live near a peach orchard, and I loved the warmer tones. It’s a great kitchen print. The Kitten bandit print was something that just spoke to me, so I went with it, and then…..

Despite trying to eliminate all typography, I found my favorite quote by F.Scott Fitzgerald. Into my cart it went.

Evoke a feeling with color

Once I had the new art hung, I loved the warmer feel so much I didn’t want to pumpkin it out. The grey with the orange and a few wood pieces felt like the change of seasons.

Less is more

So I decided to make a few more tweaks by switching out a plant for more texture with a tumbleweed and my knitted 70’s flower child pumpkin I picked up at the Found Cottage Merchantile earlier this month.

And I am calling in good for right now. I may throw a few white pumpkins into a bowl, but it’s making me happy for now. What do you think?
