Kitchen Refresh at the Lake house

Call me CRAZY but it’s that time of the year again. Spring you say?!?! Well, yes. but it’s also time for the One Room Challenge. This is a semi annual challenge that brings together the love of design with the stress of DIY. It’s done within a supportive community (in six short weeks) with weekly updates from each of the participants. I am very excited to be participating as a guest for my third challenge. You can read more about the ORC here.

This time around I have decided to refresh the kitchen at our lake house. When I started planning this space a few weeks ago it seemed like it would be quick enough to cover in the six allowed weeks. But here we are at the beginning and I already feel behind!

This is where we are today.

This is where we are today.

The kitchen at the lake house is a galley kitchen. Small but works well for us as empty nesters.. We are looking for more of a refresh/update in what I like to think of as phase one. Phase two (replacing that beast of a refrigerator and fingers crossed a gas stove (the house is in a remote area and we have propane gas) will come next year. For now my plan is:

-REPLACE COUNTERTOPS- Going with butcher block

-BACKSPLASH

-SINK & FAUCET

-CABINET HARDWARE

-PAINT or WALLPAPER BEHIND BOOKCASE

-NEW LIGHTING

-ACCENT WALL??

We are going to be doing all of this DIY and we only have weekends to work on it so wish us luck! Follow along each week to see how we are coming along. If you have any tips please leave it in the comments. We are going to need all the help/suggestions we can get. To be honest I’m a little nervous about our timeline.
