Decorating for Spring with fresh flowers

It’s easy to brighten up our homes with a beautiful vase of flowers, and I am a big fan. The folks at Trader Joe’s know me by name and the floral dept often holds special flowers for me that they think I may like. However today I want to inspire you to think a bit more out of the box.

Color

I use fresh flowers to bring in those beautiful pops of springtime color. Because I don’t do a lot of seasonal decorating this time of year, using flowers are my way of brightening things up after a long cold winter. I like choosing bright blooms and using unique varieties with lots of greenery.

My favorite blooms for Spring

• Daffodils
• Tulips- my favorite
• Spray Roses
• Ranunculuses
• Lillies-I love the double lily that opens like a rose
• Heather
• Freesia
• Anemones
• Blooming branches
• draping greenery

Unique ways of displaying flowers

I adore using flowers in unexpected places. Here I placed fresh flowers in little vases and used them as a valance at our Airbnb. I love how pretty it is, and our guests love it. I found the vases on Amazon and tied them on the curtain rod with leather strips.

Tucking fresh flowers into unexpected places is another way to elevate your Spring decor. Here I used a vintage battery case filled with daisies to fill in an empty niché.

A hallway or corner is another unexpected spot to add bright pops of color.

Tuck a few into a small container in the bathroom. Try it with lavender.

Mix Spring decor in with your florals.

You can easily mix decor with your flowers -I used plastic Easter eggs for my vases of cut branches.

Adding some texture to your vases.

Add some moss to your vases and planters. So easy! I used a moss mat (these are very handy as they already have the adhesive built in). Next simply cut it to the size of the vase. I then trimmed off the excess and done. Moss instantly says, “Yay, Spring” to me. See how it elevates these purple tulips.

And these daffodils…

This is also an excellent way to cover up cheap plastic pots.
