Happy April! As I type this we still have a tiny bit of snow on the ground and the temps are hovering in the high 30’s. But we are hardy folk here in Michigan and it’s time to plan for our next project, An outdoor living refresh! We will be spending the next eight weeks working on giving the outdoor spaces a major refresh at our latest Airbnb!
We will be participating once again in the One Room Challenge for this refresh and I couldn’t be more excited!
If you are not familiar with The One Room challenge the ORC is a challenge where participants get to show how they transform a space and show all the good bad and the ugly for people to follow along in the journey.
The challenge will last for 8 weeks.
It is addicting to follow along with.
This is the ORC’s 10th year and Apartment Therapy is the media partner for the ORC.
Last Spring we completed a small deck refresh at our first Airbnb for the ORC and our guests LOVE it. You can see the project details here.
Okay, let’s get this party started!
Details on the outdoor living plans
We have a LOT of deck to deal with.
Let me say that again.
It’s a LOT of deck!
LOL.
Since the house will primarily be a short term rental will need to make sure our outdoor living spaces comfortably work for 8 people.
Dining and seating areas are very important. Adding a fire pit and lighting for cozy outdoor evenings are also important.
I really want to modernize the space also. Think Modern Cozy Cottage.
Yikes, this view really needs some love.
So here is the plan as of today.
- Power wash deck- DONE
- Clean the concrete pad
- STAIN and protect the deck
- New lighting
- Create a living and a dining space
- Need a grill
- Clean up the flowerbeds
- Build a fire pit area
- Games? Entertainment?
