What do I mean by Natural Decor?

It’s all about embracing the beauty and textures of the natural world to create a cozy, festive atmosphere. Consider adding these organic elements to your Christmas decor:

• Moss

Live Trees

I am a fresh-cut tree girl from waaaay back. Sure, hauling a nine-foot beast into the house and wrestling it into a stand might not be everyone’s idea of holiday cheer. But for me, there’s just no substitute for the scent and the vibrant green of a fresh-cut tree.

Potted Christmas Tree

If you are not into lugging a full-size, fresh-cut tree into your home. I hear you! For a simpler, eco-friendly option, consider a potted Norfolk pine. This tiny evergreen packs a punch in the cozy department, and you can decorate it with delicate baby’s breath (it will dry beautifully throughout the season) and natural wood garland for a simple, neutral vibe. Perfect for those with smaller spaces to decorate.

Fresh Flowers

Fresh Flowers are beautiful any time of year but can add a festive touch during the holidays. This easy DIY arrangement (from grocery store flowers) combines beautiful Lisanthus with cranberries.

Tulips, roses, and simple sprigs of greenery are lovely this time of year and don’t have to be expensive. Forage your yard for greenery and your local grocery store for a bouquet of white tulips or red roses.

While we are on the subject of fresh flowers, have you ever thought of adding fresh flowers to your Christmas tree? I decorated a Christmas tree with roses in little glass vases for a dinner a couple of years ago—still one of my all-time favorites.

Greenery

Besides a fresh garland, you can add a touch of greenery to almost any place to “festive up” your home.

Even the smallest sprig of greenery can add a holiday touch.

Succulent Tree

This easy DIY Succulent tree is perfect for the holidays. These succulent trees last for months so make these early in the season for a touch of greenery from Thanksgiving on.

Topiary Trees

Have you seen these adorable topiary trees? I am obsessed! I use them all over the house. I’ve found them in several varieties. Below are rosemary, lavender, and a spruce. They can be found in grocery stores (I found these at Trader Joe’s), local nurseries, and even on Amazon. They add a beautiful touch of nature and smell yummy, too!

You can make a quick DIY centerpiece by grouping varieties of topiaries in a basket, add some ribbon or lights and cover with moss for a natural statement all season long.

Fresh Fruit

Fresh fruit is a beautiful way to add a touch of color and texture to your Christmas decor. I love a simple glass bowl of oranges (add some cloves for an amazing scent) or a bowl of pomegranates with some holiday greens for a pop of red.

Natural Christmas Ornaments

Decorating your Christmas tree with a natural touch can be a great way to bring nature in. I DIY’D ornaments with dried flowers, moss, grapevine, and star of anise this year for a pretty, rustic vibe.

Moss

Moss is my secret to making all things better. It elevates everything just a bit. An easy example…cover the dirt in your potted plants or Poinsettia’s with moss. Easy Peasy.

You can see how much I love moss; I used it in several of the projects here. Another easy and quick way to add a natural touch to your holiday decor it this candle centerpiece. This one is made with moss, a dough bowl, and some skinny candles.
