A Spiked Hot Chocolate Recipe For Galentine’s Day.

Hey there, friends!

While I’ve never been a huge Valentine’s Day person (all that pressure!), I love the idea of Galentine’s Day. It’s a great excuse to celebrate the amazing females in our lives. For me, these days, that mostly centers around two of my all time favorite humans…my incredible adult daughters. I like to plan a special day where we can hang out, watch a ’90s rom-com, indulge is some favorite snacks, and just chill. I also like to make it feel festive. So, in the spirit of celebrating the special women in our lives, I’m sharing my go-to recipe for the ultimate Galentine’s Day treat: boozy hot chocolate! It’s the perfect way to cozy up with your besties and enjoy some quality time. Let’s make some spiked hot chocolate for Galentine’s Day!

Gather Your Ingredients:

First things first, let’s gather our supplies for this velvety hot chocolate goodness.

Ingredients for Spiked Hot Chocolate
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (I’m using Ghirardelli)
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup dark cocoa powder (I used Ghirardelli)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 2 ounces Bailey’s Irish Cream liqueur (or to taste)
  • 2 ounces vodka (or to taste)
  • Pinch of sea salt

Makes 6 servings.

Directions: Putting together a Spiked Hot Chocolate.

Now for the fun part!

  • In a sauce pan over medium heat, combine the chocolate chips and sugar. Stir together and stir often, until melted.
  • Add the cocoa powder to the melted chocolate and stir completely.
  • Slowly add the milk, 1/2 cup at a time. Stirring as you do.
  • Break up any lumps as you see them.
  • Stir it all together until it’s perfectly blended.
  • Combine the Bailey’s and the Vodka.
  • Add in the Bailey’s and Vodka- I do this directly into the mugs to tailor the amount of alcohol.
  • Stir until the boozy goodness is evenly distributed.
  • Add a pinch of Sea Salt.

Add the Bailey’s and Vodka directly to mugs of Spiked Hot Chocolate.

For the final step, add a pinch of sea salt to each. This will add a pop of contrast to the richness of the chocolate.
