On this first week of the New Year, I thought I’d round up and share some of your favorite DIYs and Renovations from the blog in 2021.
2021 was a year filled with projects, big and small.
We kicked off Spring 2021 with a big outdoor project at our first Airbnb.
The deck, porch, and outdoor spaces were the last renovations we needed to complete at this house, and I decided to participate in the One Room Challenge to force me to get it done on time. 🙂
We love how cozy it turned out, and our guests have had the nicest things to say about it in our reviews!
I felt the space needed an Instagram moment, so I decided to DIY a giant letter board and living wall.
It turned out to be a big hit with our guests, and they leave the nicest comments about it in their reviews.
You can find the tutorial here.
In September, we closed on our second Short Term Rental property and immediately began demoing the kitchen for the Jeffery Court Challenge- cause that’s how we roll!
We had a very short six-week timeframe to complete the challenge and so much to do.
Once the renovation began, we took out the upper cabinets, painted the lowers, painted the walls, added trim, added a concrete countertop- which we poured ourselves, added open shelving, tiled a backsplash, and finally tiled the kitchen floor!
Whew.
It was a wild ride, and some tears were shed, but definitely worth it.
You can find all the details here.
This is my favorite space we’ve renovated to date.
Maybe it’s that adorable Smeg fridge or that blue and white striped tile from Jeffery Court, but whatever it is, I love it!
We continued renovating the newest Airbnb well into the Fall, starting with this STATEMENT wall mural.
The Living room/Dining area is now completed – we installed new LVP flooring, paint, and the mural.
Next up in this house are the bathrooms, but we are waiting on the new furnace, which is being installed the first week of January because it is so cold in the house!
I also worked on a lot of smaller DIYs this year.
Here are a few of the readers’ favorite DIYs.
First up, I made a checkerboard table from an old table base I had.
Next, my vintage chicken crate turned into a coffee table.
Lastly, the accent wall I designed with cedar ceiling shakes we had leftover from the porch project.
What’s next for us??
We will finish the Ellery Street short-term rental renovation in the next two months and then move on to our next project, a very old duplex we plan on ultimately offering as a long-term rental property.
All of these reno’s will definitely keep us busy through the summer months and then hopefully a breather!
Thank you all for following along on this crazy journey, and I can’t wait to see what 2022 brings!
Until next time,
-Libbie
