Hello! I am in the middle of planning three different bedroom designs, and I noticed when I am planning a bedroom refresh, I have a list of easy got to’s that I work with.
Choosing a color palette is a great starting point. I am leaning towards warm neutrals lately, and my current favorites are earthy colors like rust, browns, creams, and green. Then I add color and texture through live plants, textured bedding, and accessories.
My favorite way to refresh a bedroom is to change out the bedding. Layering quilts with throws and pillows feel elevated and will make the room feel cozier.
Choosing new bedding for your refresh can bring instant gratification. Here is where you might want to think about adding layers. Start with a quilt, duvet, or comforter, and then layer. Fold an additional bed blanket or quilt on the bottom.
Texture, for me, is a love language, and it can be as simple as the fringe on the end of a duvet or a mix of pillows that will instantly refresh a bedroom space.
Throws and pillows also add warmth and texture to a bedroom. Look for chunky knits, boucle, or faux fur to add a layered feeling to your bedding.
Wall decals (find mine here), Wallpaper, wood moulding almost anything can be added to your walls to add warmth and texture and become a focal point in your bedroom.
Nothing refreshes a bedroom like bringing in a live element. Think Green! Plants can help with air quality, so adding them is a win-win. Pretty pots can be found inexpensively, or you can make something like this DIY plant wall.
This window valance using propagated plants adds some greenery to a bedroom and works for fresh flowers too.

If you have space in your bedroom, adding a reading nook with a chair and a table can provide a respite from a busy day.
I love this budget bedroom refresh my friend Jen from Noting Grace did in her guest room. Her vintage headboard looks so pretty with her white bedding and adds character to the space. Vintage pieces keep a room or space from looking too “cookie cutter”.
