penny tile with typography/week four one room challenge

Hello! Well, we’ve made it to the halfway mark of the One Room Challenge. YIKES! We still have so much to do, so I will just celebrate our ALMOST tiled entryway for a moment. To recap our previous weeks catch up here:

WEEK ONE/ WEEK TWO/ WEEK THREE

On to this week. We worked on tiling the entryway.

Penny Tile from Home Depot

Penny Tile from Home Depot

I knew from the beginning we wanted the entryway tiled in penny tile. It fits the age of the home, and we have black and white penny tile in the upstairs bathroom. I also knew I wanted to provide an Instagram moment for the house since it will be an Airbnb. Something similar to these.

Typography in tile

I will post a tutorial after the One Room Challenge. But I am so excited about how it turned out.

Laying out the typography in Penny tile

Laying out the words. The house is two blocks from Lake Michigan, which locals call the “Fresh Coast” or sometimes the “Third Coast.” So I played around with that until I settled on….

Still needs to be grouted.

So, as I said, we are ALMOST finished. We still need to grout! But I am truly excited about how it turned out. I am not going to lie; it was TIME-CONSUMING. But well worth it. Next week we are working on trim and paint!
