Updating a kitchen peninsula

We are in the process of updating our Airbnb kitchen.

The first thing we looked at was the roomy layout but not big enough for an Island.

It has a narrow bar top that hangs over the range.

Which freaks me out, to be honest.

Can you say fire hazard?

I’ve spent a lot of time researching kitchen peninsulas and what to do with this one.

I think I’ve come up with a preliminary plan.

I need the layout to remain the same.

The horseshoe works, and it faces out into the open floor plan.

It’s perfect for socializing at an Airbnb.

However, this peninsula in its current state doesn’t allow for any seating.

But I have a plan for that.

Follow along with my Friends as they update their islands, and I figure out this beast!

My friend Leen from Sanddollar Lane is working on DIY Kitchen Islands ideas; see her post here and Brooke from Cribbs Style is looking to update her builder-grade Island here. Stay tuned over the next few weeks to see how these projects turn out!

Until next week.
