WE MADE IT! It’s week 6- Our Modern Cottage Kitchen reveal week for the Jeffery Court Renovation Challenge, and it didn’t kill us!
WOOT WOOT! Can you tell that it was touch and go there for a while?!?
This renovation was a labor of love with a heavy emphasis on labor. š
If you are new here, HELLO and welcome.
You can check out our kitchen renovation progress to this point here:
Week One/ Week Two/ Week Three/ Week Four/ Week Five
Grab a beverage; there is a lot to see, and I don’t want to skip a detail!
And now a drumroll, please…
Let’s first take a look at where we began six weeks ago.
We closed on this house 48 hours before starting the kitchen demo!
Dark and drab and not very cheery for an Airbnb and not very Modern Cottage Kitchen feeling.
We are thrilled with the beautiful tile we received from Jeffery Court HD.
The backsplash we took up to the bulkheads is called Headwind Blue -available at Home Depot, and it makes my heart happy whenever I see these beautiful stripes. I think it blends modern and cottage perfectly.
Perfect for a modern cottage kitchen vibe-don’t you think??
My DM’s were filled with LOVE for the floor tiles I chose.
The tile is called Suburbs- and is available at Home Depot, and is GORGEOUS in person.
Taking out those heavy brown cabinets and adding open shelving from Iron Abode was a perfect choice here.
Open shelving is perfect for our Airbnb guests because they won’t have to search out often-used items like glasses and dishes.
A huge bonus is I love how open the space feels now without those bulky upper cabinets.
And the White Concrete countertops are swoon-worthy.
Freshly painted Navy cabinets pop against the white concrete countertops we DIY’d, thanks to the wonderful (and very helpful) people from Z Counterform.
The original countertop had a bar-height counter that we removed, and then we added twelve inches to add countertop seating.
Gorgeous new legs (from Osborne Wood) added visual interest and extra support.
One of my favorite details in the room is the new room COLOR. I chose White Designer by Pratt and Lambert.
What a HUGE difference it made in the lighting in this room.
It feels so much bigger.
It’s such a beautiful clean white and paired perfectly with the blue cabinets (Mariner 308G) also by Pratt and Lambert.
Adding champagne brass hardware from DLawlessHardware to the painted 80’s cabinets helped them to look fresh and updated.
I painted all doors and trim with a creme color that I color-matched to the SMEG; a splurge for sure, but it will look great in the Airbnb listings!
I was torn over the cream Smeg or this blue one but I knew I had made the right choice once the cream arrived!
Our fancy new faucet is the Neo Sensor Spring Faucet by Speakman, and I love the bling it adds to the kitchen.
An Airbnb would not be complete without a coffee station.
The kitchen is part of one great big room, so we added a dining table with chairs from Target and a new light fixture from Shades of light.
And one final look into the living area.
That’s it.
I love it so much and can’t wait to share it with guests next Spring.
A big thank you to Jeffery Court HD, Frogtape, and Wagner Spray Tech for sponsoring this challenge.
It was an honor to work with you and all the fabulous contestants.
Thank you also to the following sponsors who sponsored products, gave advice, and cheered me on during this DIY renovation.
Thank you,
-Libbie
